Lunar Bloom started with a simple question: why are the flowers we keep — the one pinned to a wedding bouquet, a graduation gown, a favourite coat — so rarely made by hand any more? Our studio in Nanjing was built around the answer. A small team, shaping velvet flowers petal by petal, one at a time.
There is no mould and no shortcut. Each petal is cut, fluffed, dyed and shaped around a slender wire before it is assembled into a flower — a single bloom can take a full day. It is slow work, and it is why no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
Hair combs, clips and brooches for weddings, ceremonies and the everyday — designed to be worn more than once. The palette is soft rather than bright: ivory, champagne, dusty rose, sage. They sit easily with what you already own, and they photograph beautifully.
